#1 - First come first serve basis

Give Respect, Earn Some Respect

My friend called me the other day to accompany him to see his family doctor. He wasn't feeling good about his throat for a long time. I asked him to get an appointment, to which he said, "Its my family doctor, not required dude". It took about 30 mins to reach the clinic and I saw 2 aged men waiting to see the doctor along with 4 other young men & women. My friend gazed around the clinic and smiled to the attendant, who "greeted" him and asked us to wait. I was prepared to wait, as it would take sometime for the doctor to see my friend, when suddenly, I heard the attendant calling us, "Sir....!!! Please come" and directed us to go see the doctor in his room. Before I could understand and react on how we are being called for immediately skipping all those waiting patients, we were in the doctor's room. The doctor did his routine and after 10 mins, we were out of his room. After paying the doctor fees to the attendant (without any receipt), my friend handed over 20 bucks to the attendant. He smiled and thanked.

Now, isn't it shameful. The old aged patients were still waiting, God knows for how long... and just because the attendant knew we would TIP him, he made us see the doctor first. Before leaving the clinic, I looked at the 2 aged men, the were still looking at the attendant, for calling them and visit the doctor.

From thereon, I have decided, not to do this ever in my future, and not to ever encourage it when I am with others. I do understand that the needy should be given the preference, but here, its the TIP which did the trick.
